Why is it someone can watch a porn movie where the wife fucks both the plumber and the pool boy and not bad an eyelid but if you write a story where the wife fucks both the plumber and the pool boy they complain that "it's totally unbelievable and there's no way it'd happen in real life!"?

That's interesting. I write totally unbelievable stories, yet nobody has ever said that to me!

When I say "unbelievable" my most popular story is about hunting people with dogs in the Middle East in full "John Peel" English hunting pink today!

Good question, to which I'm sure there is a scientific answer. But using simple sarcasm, I think those that say "You get a 6 because that was unbelievable," must think that they are literary editors.

That's fair enough, because some of us are trying to write literature.

I was asked to what extent the Hunting story I mentioned was autobiographical!

Excellent point to which I agree. My point may need more words to make clear. And my additional comments are in no way directed to you personally CharmBbrights. Rather they are a reflection of what is often the norm.

A simple statement like "That was unbelievable" is often the total sum of the feedback that we get, which is not much help to the author. For those who vote based on a literary outlook, then it would be nice if they would share a bit of their time and expertise to provide something the author can use. For instance, indicate where the story failed, or could have been improved. Otherwise what is the point of saying anything?

I'm sure the indivual casting the vote and adding the critique can receive some unsavoury rebutalls, but some of us truly do want to improve so I welcome and even seek out such feedback.

You need to write something that is believable within the framework you created. For example, if you establish the wife is super uptight, it's not going to be beilevable that she screws those two guys with no provocation. And that's something a lot of people do on this site. And reading porn is generally different than watching. Watching it, it's all visual. The visuals are what's getting you off. When you're reading a story, more has to be done with the characters. You have to craft an actual story, rather than just throwing a bunch of naked flesh on a screen.

Well said Jake…

Your comments towards the example used by DarkHorse clearly articulates the point I was hoping to make with my suggestion... "it would be nice if they would share a bit of their time and expertise to provide something the author can use."

Rather than the 3 words, which I used as an example of typical feedback, adding a short comment as to why the vote is what it is, will be something the author can use, if he/she so chooses.

Even positive feedback is better when the person is more specific as to why they liked a story. I've sent follow up questions to positive feedback once or twice. I totally agree.

Probably the same folks that see Laura's tits on my profile page, read the story and tell me I have great tits. Obviously I don't have a set of tits like that.

I don't like the stories that start out telling you that its a fantasy. Leave that part out, make it seem real. How many books would Stephen King sell, if the first sentence started "this isn't a true story"
