Not that I'm an expert on bondage, but if I were going to do it, I'd buy some satin rope (the kind you tie off curtains or a bathrobe with) for two reasons:
1. it's not as itchy as real rope
2. it's not as "binding" (please excuse the awful pun) as real rope
