Off for a much needed vacation by some water! Leaving Sunday and back late Saturday. May be off line the whole time, I just don't know right now. I'll be thinking of all you fine folk while I'm gone, especially the ladies!!

See you next week!

Sextified,

We all share one big family bed. But it helps for my husband to have another bed where he can close the door, so he can sleep any time he wants to. I'm the one who gets stuck waiting up with the kid until he is ready to sleep. But the kid won't accept my husband taking my place.

The new house has the master bedroom upstairs, and the kid's room on the other side, with a bathroom in the middle.

We are estimating that as I get further into pregnancy, it will be useful for me to lay in the kid's bed with him and try to get him to fall asleep there. Usually he falls asleep on the couch and I carry him to the big bed, but I won't be able to do that much longer. If we can put cartoons on in his room, he and I will probably end up sleeping there. If that doesn't work and he still sleeps on the couch, at some point I am going to just have to leave him there and go sleep on the futon in my husband's office. Then I can hear him if he wakes up, and try to get him back to sleep quickly.

As for the new arrival, I expect for at least the first few months that I will just wear him in a sling as if he is still a part of me. So he will go wherever I go.

Girlie,

I know a lot changes when you have the first kid. When they start sleeping all on their own all night some things have a chance of returning to normal. A lot of couples work very hard to get the kids into their own room as soon as possible. Baby monitors are great for that.

My Inspiration used to use one when we played pool in her garage with her dad. The kid was almost always quiet, and she could relax and have fun for a bit.

Me time is important for mom's. Even more so when the second kid comes along. Hopefully the dynamics between the kids will yield you more time and not less.

I could put him down in his own room after he falls asleep (or lay with him until he is asleep and then sneak away). But the first time he stirs and I am not there, he's done sleeping. If I am there, he goes right back to sleep. He usually sleeps all night like that. This is the way that works for us all to get enough sleep. Everything else we tried meant not enough sleep for all of us. He has a lot of trouble feeling safe and relaxed so he can fall asleep. It was a real problem in the beginning, since it took hours to wind him down to get him to sleep for a short time.

Sounds like you have a kid who love you to death. :-)

I'm so happy that you're settling into your new home. :-) As far as a baby, I'm excited. Honey and I will start working on a baby next year. I've told Mr. T and he has joyfully agreed to be the baby's GODdaddy. :-) No, he won't be the father. But, he'll be an excellent role model for the baby. Once we (Honey, I and Mr. T) find a suitable mate for me, I'll start the process.
