hi all,

i am new here and my first story was published yesterday. i have received some really good comments and i have been surprised by the ratings and the amount of reads to be honest!

most of the stories i write are based on or loosely around my personal experiences. one person has emailed me saying i shouldn't write about my personal experiences or that if i do i shouldn't advertise this.

i am just wondering why this is? is is something that is commonly thought about erotic writing? and if it is then why is that?

i have never written about something i haven't experienced myself so i think i may have a problem if this is the case!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this!

thanks, luci x

The comment from the member of the audience that you are asking about is simply sharing his/her opinion, as you have shared your experieince. That individual obviously did not like the experience depicted in your story.

I would suggest that many authors on this site write about their personal experiences, often embelished with some fiction, and often not.

If you are writing for your own personal enjoyment, do not let critical comments deter you. As long as your story fits within the parameters established by the site, what does it matter if it is fact or fiction, or if some one disliked it. You will never please all of the audience all fo the time.

I am curious and interested to read that story. How would I find it "Angelic" perhaps? If so I have sent you a personal comment.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for your comments. the person actually liked it so thats why i was more curious as to why they would say i shouldn't say it was a personal experience. I thought it was maybe a rule on the site i had misssed or something. Glad its not, i will be writing more!

my story is called 'meeting the family' by sexcetera.

hope you enjoy x

As to you saying that this was a true experience, many stories on here, and similar sites, claim to be "true". Some of them include very far-fetched events, and even anatomically impossible attributes and/or activities.

I regard all ES stories as fiction. Remember that Gulliver's Travels is written throughout as if it were a true account of the writer's own adventures, even to giving the latitude of Lilliput (30° 2') though not the longitude.

I might not say anything next time, see if it affects how my story does. i try to keep them as close to the actual time i am thinking of as possible but sometimes there are things added or taken away to improve the story so i might not say they are true from now on.
i'm planning on giving fiction a go as well but i'm gonna try to become better at writing first and i think that will be easier with what i know for the moment! Thanks for your comments, and i might have to read gullivers travels as well!

Some of my early stories were based on things I really did when I was in my 20's and I think that's a good place to start if you are a new writer. But unless you lead an extraordinary life you'll have to start making up stuff sooner or later. There is one very talented, popular writer here who proports all of her stories are true, but she has written so many, with some pretty amazing adventures, that I stopped believing it years ago.
